Justice Navigator

for San Francisco’s Community Assessment & Referral Center (SFCARC). SFCARC has supported juvenile justice reform and transformation in San Francisco for 25 years. SFCARC is a community-based diversion program and the single point of entry for crisis intervention, intake/assessment, service integration and referrals for arrested and detained youth. The goal is to assess the needs of young people who come in contact with police, connect them and their families to needed services, and use restorative justice practices to hold youth accountable and prevent re-arrests. This full‑time position is primarily on-site, with occasional remote work possible. SFCARC operates Monday–Friday 9am–10pm, with planned hours expansion to Monday–Saturday 10am–midnight (position will work Tuesday–Saturday, 4pm–midnight in the new year). Responsibilities

Complete intake and assessments with youth arrested by law enforcement at SFCARC and the Juvenile Justice Center Coordinate and attend a warm handoff to JSCC providers within 24–72 hours when needed Provide system navigation and service coordination with the JSCC providers and community partners Engage with youth at SFCARC, in the community and those booked at the Juvenile Justice Center Collaborate with youth, families and JSCC providers to create accountability plans using restorative justice practices Document shift changes and communicate information timely within the team Utilize healing-centered, trauma-informed, restorative justice, holistic and youth development practices Build rapport with youth and families, and participate in meetings as required Maintain a fluid caseload and consistent electronic documentation of contacts Support agreements monitoring and completion of youth accountability planning as needed Collaborate with youth, families/legal guardians and JSCC providers for successful navigation of the juvenile justice system Develop relationships with the 5 JSCC community-based organizations and other resources in the SF Bay Area Participate in field trips, restorative justice circles and related activities as needed Support documentation for monthly uploads and data sharing relevant to SFCARC programs Maintain clear, timely communication with systems partners (SFUSD, Public Defender’s Office, Juvenile Probation, SF Police, SF Sheriff, and others) Enter documentation and maintain files in Salesforce and other data-tracking systems Participate in ongoing professional development related to diversion and youth development Assist with administrative duties as needed to support programming Other duties as assigned to ensure effective programming Qualifications

Bilingual capability (Spanish & English), stipend provided Bachelor’s degree in social work, human/social services, criminal justice or related fields and/or 1–3 years’ experience with youth, families and case management; or other qualified interventions with adolescents Experience with youth from diverse backgrounds using a youth development approach Ability to manage multiple projects independently and work within a culturally diverse team Willingness to partner with law enforcement on a regular basis Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, oral and written communication, and organization Preferred Education and Experience

Knowledge of SF Bay Area community-based agencies serving adolescents Ability to work in a crisis, fast-paced and collaborative environment Mobility to provide services in multiple locations Additional Eligibility

TB clearance Valid CA driver’s license, clear DMV record and reliable transportation Two years of driving experience Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Security Clearance

Must pass the DOJ/FBI background check. Some offenses may render applicants ineligible per licensing requirements. Work Environment

This position primarily works on-site at 44 Gough St., San Francisco, with services also provided at the Juvenile Justice Center, community-based organizations, and other Huckleberry programs. The role involves transporting youth and using standard office equipment. The office is in the Hayes Valley/Civic Center area and is accessible by public transit with staff parking available. Physical Demands
