Overview
Radiology Technologist role at Chinese Hospital, San Francisco Bay Area. Full Time position. Requisition #12668. Responsibilities
Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety. Prepare room, equipment, medicines and materials as needed for patient care and exams, including barium preparation, contrast media and other medications as needed. Prepare patients for radiology department procedures, explain procedures, assist with patient transportation and positioning, and support proper positioning during and after procedures. Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays; adjust equipment, determine proper voltage, current and desired exposure time. Arrange immobilization and support devices to obtain proper patient positioning for imaging. Utilize lead shielding properly and protect patients, staff and self from radiation exposure by following sound procedures meeting industry standards. Observe patient and equipment during procedures; report unusual occurrences and record patient conditions. Perform portable X-ray exams at patient bedside, in the ER and in surgery; perform CARM procedures at patient bedside, ER and surgery. Clean and disinfect radiology exam room and equipment; develop and process digital radiological film. Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by Physician, PA, or NP; maintain a repeat rate of two percent or less. Ensure equipment is in good working condition and compliant with applicable laws and regulations; report malfunctions to Supervisor. Log completed radiological procedures and complete paperwork accurately and on time; identify and file reports as required; maintain x-ray room and stock radiological supplies. Perform daily checks of crash cart and emergency trays in X-Ray rooms. Demonstrate good working relationships, plan and utilize work time efficiently, show problem-solving and effective communication with coworkers and physicians. Administer IV contrast when applicable; work closely with Physician, PA, or NP to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients. Perform lab work as directed by Physician, PA, or NP; contribute to process improvements and train new employees. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and a current X-Ray Technology certificate or license from an accredited diagnostic imaging program approved in California. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings. Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic for measurements, money, weight, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current certification or license in X-Ray Technology and Fluoroscopy from the state of California; ARRT certification required. Responsible for maintaining 12 category A CE credits per year. BCLS certification required. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and use hands for computer work, equipment setup/cleaning, and clerical tasks. Able to lift up to 30 pounds; standing, walking and moving 50% of the day. Compliance
