Our client is seeking a DC General Manager responsible for maintaining receiving and warehousing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. The General Manager will manage all efforts at the location, including strategy, execution, defining and/or driving logistics, lean and six sigma initiatives, optimization of inventory, facilities, safety and transportation. This key member of the Operations team will support the development and implementation of business-focused Operations initiatives that drive continuous improvement throughout the business as well as identify supply chain solutions to create a sustainable competitive advantage in cost, cash, safety, quality and service.
SALARY:
Up to 140K Annually + Bonus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead in the development of initiatives to improve warehouse efficiencies.
Monitor quality, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
Ability to staff the warehouse appropriately based on influxes in sales, to assure on-time delivery.
Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Implement warehouse operations policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with Operations leadership team as necessary.
Work with Human Resources onsite to plan, develop, and implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
Maintain physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
Actively manage space constraints and minimize the utilization of inventory areas.
Achieve financial objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing expense variances; initiating corrective actions.
Ensure the physical organization, safety and housekeeping of the warehouse and surrounding areas.
Review and adjust personnel to maintain expense percent to sales per company objectives.
Develop the team, mentor, and coach all direct staff. Help develop organizational capacity and build future leaders for the organization.
Review financial statements, sales, safety, and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
Prepare or direct preparation of reports on operations, maintenance, and safety.
Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business Management is preferred or equivalent work experience required.
5+ years managerial experience in positions with increasing responsibilities required; previous experience as a DC General Manager desired.
Must have proven ability to develop, lead and culturally drive an environment of high productivity and cost effectiveness.
