Senior Data Scientist - Predictive modeling and Power BI Data Visualization

Apply the scientific method to extract knowledge and insights from data, including time-series, structured and unstructured data. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to turn data into information that informs decision making. Mine big and small data for insights using advanced statistics and machine learning methods. Validate findings with the business and share outputs in an understandable way. Become a subject matter expert in artificial intelligence, machine learning, feature engineering, data mining, and data manipulation/storage. Collect, cleanse, standardize and analyze data from a variety of internal and external sources. Produce novel insights to inform business actions using statistical modeling and machine learning on large data sets. Position may require extended hours for storms or energy delivery emergencies. Primary Duties Develop key predictive models that improve customer experience, operating performance, and safety practices. Develop and recommend data sampling techniques, data collection, and data cleaning specifications; apply missing data treatments as needed. Analyze data using advanced analytics techniques in support of process improvement efforts using frameworks such as Python, R, Scala, Spark, Hadoop, and related tools. Access and analyze data from Company systems of record. Support development of strategic business, marketing, and program implementation plans. Access and enrich data warehouses across multiple Company departments. Build, modify, monitor and maintain high-performance computing systems. Provide expert data and analytics support to multiple business units. Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data science projects. Collaborate with other analytic teams to improve analytical capabilities. Job Scope Support business unit strategic planning with a strategic view on machine learning technologies. Advise key stakeholders on machine learning findings and recommend actions to improve operational performance or address business issues. Provide stakeholders with machine learning analyses aligned with company goals. Educate stakeholders on advanced analytics capabilities through internal presentations, training, and publications. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Operations Research, Physics, Statistics, or related field). 4–7 years of relevant experience developing hypotheses, applying ML algorithms, and analyzing multi-terabyte datasets to extract actionable insights. Analytical abilities: strong knowledge in at least two areas such as machine learning, AI, statistical modeling, data mining, information retrieval, or data visualization. Technical knowledge: experience developing and deploying predictive analytics projects using Python, R, or Scala; experience in a Unix-based environment. Communication: ability to translate data analysis into actionable recommendations; strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Education: Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline. Experience: exposure to data related to smart meters, billing, or outage management; utilities or energy sector experience; experience across the full data science lifecycle. Analytic abilities: solid understanding of ML, statistics, probability, data structures and algorithms, and optimization. Technical knowledge: expert coding skills (Python, R, Scala, SQL) in a Unix environment; proficiency with large datasets and database management. Communication: ability to translate executive guidance into analytics; strong time management and presentation skills. Benefits Annual salary: $104,000.00/Yr. – $143,000.00/Yr.
