Overview Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) is the investment firm for Liberty Mutual Group. LMI invests across fixed income, equity, and alternative strategies with a focus on driving economic growth and generating superior risk-adjusted returns. The team is located in Boston, MA and New York, NY.
The Position LMI is actively searching for a
Senior Analyst
to join the Direct Lending team. This role is part of the leveraged finance platform within Global Credit Markets and provides significant ownership of the end-to-end private credit investment process, including sourcing, underwriting and ongoing portfolio monitoring of private loans.
Responsibilities
Contribute as an integral member of the team to invest in private debt financings across the capital structure, with emphasis on unitranche, first lien, and second lien loans
Support the investment process from start to finish, conducting company and industry research, developing investment recommendations, and managing loan positions post-closing
Prepare investment committee memorandums with financial projections and assist in presenting recommendations to internal committees
Assist in evaluating, structuring, and negotiating economic and legal terms during term sheet and final documentation
Monitor the performance of existing investments and maintain post-close relationships with borrowers/sponsors and agents; provide updates during portfolio reviews
Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Accounting and Risk Management to execute transactions and manage the portfolio
Engage with other market participants as part of the investment process
Support relationship coverage with private equity firms and other deal sources to meet origination targets
Qualifications
3+ years of experience, including at least 1+ year in investing, preferably in direct lending/private credit
Experience in underwriting and monitoring credit investments
Ability to interact with and build relationships with borrowers, sponsors and market participants
Experience with credit agreement documentation or related legal documentation
Ability to identify company, industry and market risks and evaluate mitigation strategies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
Strong academic credentials and proven collaborative work style
