Overview
Major Accounts Property underwriter/manager role focused on monoline property accounts with a minimum Total Insured Value (TIV) of $300 million, and average in-force accounts exceeding $1 billion. The underwriter analyzes property exposures, hazards, financial information, requested coverages, loss history, pricing targets, and program structures to determine terms and conditions. The position requires maintaining expertise in the large property space and sharing underwriting knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Manages a portfolio of brokers, agents, and clients to underwrite profitable business while representing Liberty effectively.
Maintains and strengthens relationships with senior and market-leading brokers and key agents to ensure a strong market presence.
Develops new broker and agent relationships to expand the business network.
Articulates key coverage differences with detail and contributes to business and marketing planning using data-driven portfolio insights.
Participates in cross-departmental projects to drive underwriting and process excellence; active in teams.
Collaborates with Underwriting Support, Claims, Actuarial, and Directors of Underwriting in North America.
Applies knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; shares expertise internally and provides external thought leadership.
Mentors and trains other underwriters and internal partners to build underwriting capability.
Qualifications
Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
Minimum 7 years of progressive underwriting experience; 10+ years often expected
CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred
Strong analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks
Proven ability to communicate complex analyses clearly in written and oral forms
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage complex technical underwriting issues and implement necessary processes
Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
