As a Preconstruction Engineer / Estimator, you will support the estimating team in preparing competitive bids, coordinating with trade partners, and contributing to the success of our project pipeline. You’ll continue developing technical skills while gaining ownership of key estimating and preconstruction responsibilities. Responsibilities

Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work. Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and material quantity requirements. Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity reports into estimates. Assist in developing scopes of work and bid packages for subcontractors. Prepare subcontractor bid reconciliations and recommend best proposals. Monitor client addenda and advise estimating team on changes. Assist with design review options and recommend cost-effective solutions. Build and maintain internal tools or leverage third-party platforms to prepare detailed cost estimates. Project Coordination & Handoff

Partner with estimating team to conduct project hand-off meetings with project management. Coordinate logistics, traffic control, and pre-job planning with cities and subcontractors. Draft contract exhibits and assist in buy-out coordination with project managers. Assemble backup documentation and organize estimate packages for approval. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Use Bluebeam and other tools to read blueprints, perform takeoffs, and track drawing stages. Stay current on building codes, zoning regulations, and legal requirements. Assist with miscellaneous preconstruction tasks including scheduling and document tracking. Developing Professional Expectations

Being timely and punctual. Attending team meetings with a collaborative spirit. Communicating with supervisors and teammates regarding work schedule and time off requests. Asking questions and being vocal to teammates with project concerns. Work on learning and improving written and verbal communication. Learn construction safety (example OSHA 30). Professional Development

Learn best practices in preconstruction, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement. Participate in company-wide initiatives and Core University. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in project management. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering Zero (0) to five (5) years of commercial or multi-family residential construction experience within the San Francisco Bay Area Internships in the commercial or multi-family residential construction industry a plus Ability to review plans/specs and create accurate cost estimates. Understanding of construction methods, materials, and local codes. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., HCSS Heavy Bid), scheduling tools, and Excel. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet project deadlines. Working Conditions

The role involves both office work and on-site presence. Travel to project sites as needed. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, as project demands. Anticipated Starting Pay Range to commensurate with experience:

$90,000 - $115,000 Benefits
