We are looking to bring on a Co-Op to serve as a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer assisting office engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks. This is a full-time role that will be 4-6 consecutive months beginning January 2026. The start date is flexible depending on your schools' co-op program. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on field experience and contribute to our project teams. This role will be based out of our Boston, MA office location. Responsibilities
Assist with maintaining on-site health and safety expectations. Serve in a field support role on construction projects, including construction observation, sampling of soil or groundwater, in-situ density testing, and observation of earthwork activities. Be willing to visit construction sites to assist in the field with our construction monitoring service group. Assist engineers and Project Managers with planning and execution of site characterization, subsurface investigation, and construction of various infrastructure and real estate development projects. Communicate with the project team and prepare field reports. Review design drawings, specifications, and geotechnical/environmental reports. Assist with evaluation of subsurface geotechnical and environmental data. Assist with collection of instrumentation data. Skills/Experience
Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career. Candidate should be enrolled in a civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering program (undergraduate or graduate). Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn. Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills. Strong computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office. Driver’s license highly preferred. Ability to work for 3 or more consecutive months on a full-time basis. Work Environment & Physical Demands
Primarily field-based role; daily work will be outdoors at active construction/project sites. Must be physically capable of walking, standing, and traversing construction environments for extended periods. Lifting up to 40 lbs and/or swinging a 5 lb hammer as needed. Schedule includes early mornings depending on project requirements. The salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $23.00 - $26.00 hourly. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions.
