Chief Human Resources Officer

— Williamsburg, VA — June 2025 William & Mary, a historic and forward-thinking institution located in Williamsburg, Virginia, seeks an experienced, dedicated, and strategic Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead its human resources function during a time of transformation and growth. The CHRO serves as an essential member of the President’s Cabinet and reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration, joining a leadership peer group including the chief financial officer, chief information officer, chief business officer, and other key operational leaders for the university. Operating within a supportive yet autonomous work environment, the CHRO’s leadership will be vital to shaping the university’s workforce development strategy, enhancing HR service delivery, and nurturing a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity. Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the full range of human resources functions and services, ensuring aligned HR strategy with the university’s transformation and growth plans. Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and collaborate with senior leaders to shape workforce development initiatives and inclusive culture. Enhance HR service delivery, optimize processes, and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity across the university. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. At least ten years of leadership experience in human resources. Deep familiarity with best practices across all HR functions. Experience working in a complex setting and with ERP system migrations. Ability to bring a team mentality and collaborative leadership style. Application and Contact
