Overview
IMEG
is growing and seeking a
Senior Civil Designer
in our Leesburg, VA office. The Senior Civil Designer will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects, and lead design efforts with limited support required from senior staff for larger and high‑complexity projects. They will work with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client communication to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities include leading a team of Civil Engineers for engineering analysis, design, and oversight of civil infrastructure and/or site plans. Additional responsibilities include working within the project budget, assisting in training and mentoring, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities:
Lead design efforts for the analysis of municipal infrastructure
Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports
Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships
Assist in the design and analysis of Civil Engineering project features using Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards
Provide technical training and mentoring; assist in resolving field issues with limited senior support
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices; contribute to R&D and innovation efforts
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret state and local design criteria and apply to project needs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions; participate in project interviews and presentations
Required Skills & Abilities:
Lead the design and analysis of Civil Engineering project features using Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent tools
Ability to train others in Civil Engineering software for modeling traffic analysis, pipe networks, etc.
Advanced proficiency in design techniques and producing technical plans and specifications
Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills
Ability to perform final quality control checks in their area of expertise
Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; clear written and oral communication
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or equivalent required
Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering consulting; 12+ preferred
OR
Associate degree or certificate in Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent; 14+ years of experience in civil engineering consulting or construction preferred

Salary Range: $89,000 – $130,000. The exact range varies by location and is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
