Principal Software Quality Engineer (SQAE)
Job Description: Principal Software Quality Engineer at Belcan. Location: Torrance, CA (Zip 90501). Pay Rate: Up to $90/hr DoE. Job Type: Contract/Contract-to-hire. Shift: 9-80 A|1st Shift|08:00 AM|N. U.S. citizenship required. Must have, or be able to obtain, a DoD Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
Interact with software engineering team to ensure compliance to contractual requirements and standards.
Support compliance to AS9100, CMMI ML 3, DO-178 and DO-254 (firmware).
Participate in software design process, recommending product changes and improvements.
Generate program-specific Software QA plans, checklists, and reports.
Develop and improve software quality processes in support of AS9100, CMMI, DO-178, and DO-254.
Review program-specific software documents (Software Development Plan, Software Requirements, Software Design Documents, test plans and procedures).
Validate functional requirements in peer reviews of software code and participate in code peer reviews.
Witness software testing and write Software QA test reports related to qualification testing.
Participate in software change control board and verify/close software PRs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure program requirements compliance, identify improvements, and mitigate risks.
Participate in FCA, SOI and compliance audits for AS9100, CMMI, DO-178, and DO-254.
Manage build and baseline release of software.
Present on Software Quality Assurance topics at customer meetings.
Collect, manage and update SQA metrics.
Witness and report on QA activities during validation and verification.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in CS, CIS, MIS, Mathematics, or Engineering.
7+ years of Software Quality Assurance or related experience.
Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities; able to work in a team.
Strong analytical ability.
Proficiency with MS Office and other word-processing/database applications.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects.
Ability to obtain government security clearance (or has existing).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with compliance requirements: CMMI ML3, AS9100, AS9115, DO-178, DO-254.
Experience with Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux; understanding of coding languages.
Experience certifying systems to DO-178/254; experience with system safety requirements is a plus.
