Systems Engineer III - New Glenn Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations We are hiring for a Systems Engineer III to support the development and operations of the New Glenn Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA) Program. The role focuses on systems engineering for a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed for safe human spaceflight, with responsibilities spanning CONOPS, architecture, requirements, test, and operations.

Responsibilities

Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads by performing systems engineering activities in accordance with Blue Origin standards and practices

Build detailed CONOPS for pre-launch and flight operations

Author, decompose, analyze, trace, and verify requirements

Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external stakeholders

Develop and implement verification plans and strategies to verify requirements

Define operational constraints for end-to-end safe handling and operation of the subsystem

Lead gated reviews and support program and element-level gated reviews

Author and maintain system safety documentation (Functional Hazard Assessments, Architecture Safety Assessments, Fault Tree Analyses, FMECAs)

Collaborate with integrated test, launch operations, and autonomous flight operations teams to incorporate operational constraints into procedures and flight plans

Provide real-time engineering anomaly resolution during integrated test and launch operations

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or other technical field

5+ years of hands-on experience in structures, ordnance, spacecraft integration, or avionics

Hands-on experience in at least one of: analysis, design, testing, or launch operations

Experience developing, authoring, and implementing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work effectively in teams and lead through influence

Experience in systems engineering on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other regulated industries

Experience writing or consuming requirements

Ability to operate and make decisions in ambiguous environments and build trust in diverse teams

U.S. citizenship or lawful eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

Launch vehicle controller experience

Experience with system safety and system integration in aerospace hardware

Knowledge of current systems engineering processes and DOORS Next Generation or equivalent RM software

Experience with reliability, maintainability, and operability analyses

Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
