The Data Scientist position supports SCAN's consumer insights analytic efforts through NLP/Speech analysis of structured and unstructured Voice of the Customer data, data communication, and operational data integration. This role supports SCAN's efforts to generate meaningful insights for Net Promoter Score, Member Satisfaction and Voluntary Disenrollment and enable data driven business decisions for SCAN's strategic initiatives. This role is responsible for end-to-end analysis using the appropriate analytical techniques across a variety of business units and data sources. The data scientist role will collaborate with both business and IT leaders to advise on SCAN's data approach to business challenges.
Responsibilities
Lead the Voice of the Customer (VOC) analysis of structured and unstructured data. This includes creation of VOC surveys, data streams, data structures, and Tableau dashboards for front line staff, management and executive level use.
Contribute to marketing efforts by providing a data expertise for brand assessment surveys, quantitative surveys, vendor interaction, automation, NPS management, and dashboard development.
Connect structured and unstructured data across the organization quickly to provide time sensitive data insights. Data sources include operational data, prospect data, call center data, core admin data, provider data, VOC data, clinical data, and external data.
Drive implementation of scalable advanced analytics such as machine learning, text analytics, speech analytics, and data munging to derive insights from previously untapped data.
Drive implementation of specific recommendation engines/predictive models to predict business outcomes related to Voluntary Disenrollment, MSAT and Net Promoter Score. This includes designing, testing, training, and maintaining the model to drive richer insights.
Coordinate activities with analytics vendors to create requirements, test models, train models, communicate findings with the business, and support the model going forward.
Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned projects, creating and managing work plans that reflect tasks, timeframes, and processes required to complete each project.
Manage multiple projects by prioritizing work and communicating workload issues to management.
Interact with IT and business stakeholders at various levels of the organization, including ability to create presentations to tell the story behind the data and represent the business or IT perspective when appropriate.
Apply a methodological approach that implements analytics to efficiently frame and solve complex business problems.
Support the customer insights data analyst intern program by providing mentorship for the interns.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contribute to team effort by maintaining collegial, collaborative relationships.

Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field of study (preferred)
Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field of study (preferred)
A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above
5+ years experience using quantitative methods: Modeling, machine learning, feature creation, construct analysis, multivariate statistical analysis and model building, and predictive modeling
2+ years of experience writing SQL code in relational database environment
4+ years of experience writing statistically-related code in R, Python, Matlab (or equivalent), SAS
Experience constructing survey tools
Proficiency working with public and private external data, such as Nielsen, Axioms, and CMS data
Advanced knowledge of text analytics techniques in a scripting language
Knowledge of Tableau is highly preferred for data visualization and analysis
Clinical code knowledge related to claims/utilization, preferred
Experience in a Medicare Advantage environment, preferred
Ability to document processes and analyses for reference/re-use
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent written and verbal communication
Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask
Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
