Overview
Lung Transplant Surgeon
The Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Mass General Brigham is seeking a mid-level faculty candidate with interest in Lung Transplantation and general thoracic surgery to join the faculty as an Assistant or Associate Professor.
The successful candidate will have an MD or equivalent, be Board eligible or Board certified in Thoracic Surgery, have had training and experience in lung transplantation, and be eligible for a Massachusetts Medical License.
Responsibilities
Lung transplantation and ECMO care will constitute 50% of the individual’s time; general thoracic surgery will comprise the remaining time.
Lung transplantation activities include harvest, implantation, ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP), patient evaluation, and perioperative care.
Contribute to and participate in robotically performed thoracic surgery, as appropriate.
Perform surgeries at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center, where this position will support the lung transplant program two days per week.
Develop an academic and research portfolio in transplantation with the aim of obtaining funding and building clinical transplantation research programs.
Utilize available clinical research support, particularly transplant-related health services research at the Center for Surgery and Public Health.
Play an active role in the education and teaching of medical students and residents on the Transplant Service.
Qualifications
MD or equivalent medical degree.
Board eligible or Board certified in Thoracic Surgery.
Training and experience in lung transplantation.
Eligible for a Massachusetts Medical License.
