Description The Building Performance Engineer actively contributes to sustainability consulting and high-performance design and operations analysis for internal and external projects and clients. The role interfaces with clients and manages budget and schedule for individually assigned projects, and collaborates with team members on other projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creates energy models using industry-standard software to assess code compliance and high-performance design Analyzes, reviews, and/or consults on project documentation of energy-related systems found in architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specifications Performs calculations to document various MEP-related credits in LEED rating systems Manages individually assigned projects by monitoring the budget and schedule and maintaining communication with the client to ensure the project meets expectations Capable of working on and/or managing multiple projects, clients, and deadlines simultaneously Communicates high-performance and sustainable design regulations to project teams through coordination meetings and technical reports Assists senior staff and service line director in pursuing new work and new clients through proposal development and project interviews as needed Maintains positive relationships with internal and external clients through proactive, high-quality communication and work product Attends and leads project design/construction meetings as needed Participates in building walk-throughs and site visits for Energy Star ratings and other energy performance evaluations Regularly reviews updates to energy- and sustainability-related codes and policies Develops technical documentation, proposals, and presentations for clients Continuously looks for ways to improve speed and efficiency of task completion and shares best practices with the team Expands knowledge of building science and MEP system design and control, as well as related software, tools, codes, and rating systems Communicates across disciplines (MEP, Architect, Contractor) for workflow and information needs Assists with training of less experienced colleagues on energy- and sustainability-related documentation and processes KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Knowledge of energy modeling software (e.g., IESVE, Trane TRACE 700) Knowledge of HVAC systems, loads, and controls Knowledge of standards, codes, and rating systems related to sustainability and energy performance Knowledge of sustainable building practices Knowledge of energy modeling process Knowledge of LEED credit requirements SKILLS AND ABILITIES Comprehension of information, ideas, and direction presented in writing or verbally Written Communication Skills: clear messaging with proper grammar and punctuation Speech Clarity: ability to speak clearly and in a common language Detail-Oriented: accuracy and thoroughness Teamwork and Collaboration: ability to work productively with others and adapt roles as needed Judgment and Decision-Making: logical, well-reasoned conclusions Technical Writing Skills: ability to summarize or explain technical information clearly Presentation Skills: effective across settings and able to adapt as needed MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Six years of relevant experience; experience in energy modeling and LEED projects Professional Engineer Licensure LEED AP or ASHRAE BEMP accreditation preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Travel to construction sites where conditions may include high altitudes or tight spaces with dirt or dust. Occasional travel up to 10% for meetings and conferences. Salary Range:
