Built is hiring a strategic and delivery-focused Senior Director of Security & IT to lead enterprise security and information technology enablement. This role defines and executes a security and information technology strategy that empowers our teams to work securely and scalably. The ideal candidate is a security-first leader who understands IT operations, can operate at both architectural and execution levels, and thrives in an environment that requires measured risk-taking and hands-on engagement. Success requires pragmatic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a clear outcomes focus. This high-impact role reports to the CFO, is part of the senior leadership team, and has broad responsibility for security, identity governance, internal tooling, enterprise architecture, IT service delivery, and facilities across our enterprise environment. This includes defining and enforcing security standards, scaling internal enablement through IT systems, and representing Built’s security posture to clients during sales and implementation processes. Key Responsibilities

Security Posture & Enablement

Define and communicate Built's enterprise Security and IT strategy in alignment with business objectives, regulatory needs, and long-term vision Own the entirety of security oversight, programs and operations, and partnership with leaders across the organization Drive measurable improvements to Built’s day-to-day security posture—not for compliance optics, but for architectural resilience and operational soundness Oversee endpoint, network, and infrastructure security including monitoring, configuration, logging, and access control Define and implement policies and technical controls across identity, access, endpoint protection, encryption, and data retention Lead vulnerability management and remediation in partnership with Engineering, including scanning, classification, tracking, and burn-down reporting Own internal security incident response and detection processes, including playbooks, tabletop exercises, and escalation protocols Ensure centralized log collection and threat detection visibility through SIEM and related tooling Champion employee awareness, phishing simulations, and behavior-focused training programs Guide application security and secure SDLC processes including tooling, risk assessment, and security integration into the dev lifecycle Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure audit readiness, third-party risk management, and policy alignment Develop and execute a clear vision for Built’s internal technology stack Manage internal IT infrastructure, endpoint management, MDM, SaaS tooling decisions, and collaboration environments Direct the IT/ITE/facilities leader and team to ensure reliable, efficient delivery of service across the company Scale IT automation, asset management, onboarding/offboarding, and employee support Maintain the health, security, and architecture of enterprise platforms like Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Crowdstrike, and Kandji Information Security & AI

Lead Built’s internal AI enablement strategy, decision support, and enablement Define and enforce guardrails for AI tool usage, prompt management, and data access controls Build dashboards, tracking systems, and internal capabilities to safely scale AI-powered tooling across the business Establish an AI-first culture that challenges norms, uses AI responsibly, and casts vision as to how AI enables our people to do the best work of their lives Cross-Functional Leadership

Serve as the internal and external face of Built's security program Partner with Engineering on the software development lifecycle and vulnerability remediation prioritization Lead security conversations with clients and prospects, including diligence, onboarding, and ongoing partnership discussions Identify, evaluate, and lead adoption of security and IT tooling; partner with procurement on contracting Support Sales and Customer Success in responding to client security diligence and onboarding inquiries Partner with Legal and Compliance to review vendor security and ensure contract coverage Collaborate with People, Finance, and Legal on onboarding flows, device readiness, and enablement budget strategy What Success Looks Like

Led a blended security/IT or infrastructure team in a growth-stage SaaS or enterprise environment Successfully driven posture improvements in identity, endpoint, cloud, or enterprise systems Partnered with Engineering or Product to integrate security into development workflows Presented or prepared material for execs, boards, or client security teams Engaged directly with external clients, prospects, or partners to communicate technical strategy, mitigate security concerns, and build trust in enterprise technology programs Built or contributed to enterprise architecture decisions involving multiple SaaS platforms Built’s salary range for this position is $260,000-$290,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
