Your Career Palo Alto Networks’ Next-Gen Firewall Cloud Security team is seeking a Principal Software QA Engineer with experience in public and private cloud security testing and automation to fill a technical leadership role. You will join a world-class QA engineering team working on groundbreaking cloud security products.
As a Principal Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will build, automate, and run functional testing scenarios for our products in virtualized environments. You are motivated to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of networking technologies.
You will work closely with development and product management to test and present results, participate in design discussions, and help shape the future direction of our software. You will drive the efficiency and reliability of our products by thorough testing, identifying risks and issues, and delivering an exemplary product experience for end users. You enjoy finding problems in the code and proposing alternative solutions for the product environment.
Your Impact
Participate in all aspects of the QA product lifecycle – scoping, test case creation and maintenance, feature testing, regression, execution, and automation
Collaborate with Product Management, Software, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver cloud security products to market with high quality and on schedule
Perform functional testing of Palo Alto Networks next-generation VM/CN firewalls and Cloud NGFW across various cloud providers
Drive automation across cross-functional teams to achieve technical and operational excellence in releases
Develop tools and infrastructure to improve testing quality and efficiency
Work with customer support and field teams to improve end-customer outcomes
Learn and implement test cases that reflect customer deployment scenarios
Apply creative but focused testing approaches to produce high-quality cybersecurity products
Your Experience
Deep understanding of testing methodologies and functional testing
Experience testing firewall or network security appliances
Proficient with Python scripting; able to run and debug existing scripts
Experience with cloud-based deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP, with Kubernetes/services such as GKE/EKS/AKS)
Experience with QA testing or automation teams involved with cloud or network security and REST APIs
Experience with Linux and open-source tools is desirable
Knowledge of commercial test tools such as Spirent Avalanche, IXLoad, or BreakingPoint is desirable
Good written and verbal communication skills
MS/ECE or BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience in Networking Security; military experience may be considered
10+ years of relevant experience

Compensation Disclosure The compensation offered for this position depends on qualifications, experience, and location. For candidates offered at the posted level, starting base salary ranges from $147,000 to $225,500 per year, with potential restricted stock units and a bonus.
