The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s complete system of care, with locations throughout the City including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. Job Description Within SFDPH’s San Francisco Health Network's Integrated Rehabilitation Department, Speech Language Pathologists work as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing highly skilled and equitable services to traditionally underserved patient populations at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (LHH). The Speech Language Pathologist works in Acute Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, and Long Term Care settings, providing post-acute services for neurological impairments such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer's/dementia. Essential duties include: Diagnoses and manages dysphagia, speech-language, cognitive-communicative disorders, traumatic brain injuries and voice disorders Administers and interprets instrumental assessment of dysphagia, including Modified Barium Swallow Studies, natural dye tests, and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Conducts therapy with individual patients and evaluates their progress Coordinates and confers with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other professionals Generates clinical reports and records including evaluations, treatment, progress, and outcomes Timely completion of required billing and related documentation Prepares and obtains therapy materials and supplies consistent with plan of care Supervises speech/language pathology student interns and participates in program development Performs related duties as required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Possession of a Speech Pathologist license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board. Special Conditions : Depending on the department's needs, some positions may require additional conditions, including, but not limited to: Possession of an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence Two years of verifiable full-time experience in Geriatric Rehabilitation Both special conditions are required for the current vacancy at Laguna Honda.
