Overview

Position: Business Intelligence Architect (PowerBI). Location: Mostly remote with onsite requirement of 2 days per month in Boston, MA or Wakefield, MA for locals or nearby candidates. Duration: Contract. Client: Eastern Bank. Experience: 15+ years preferred. The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable, enterprise Power BI solutions and administering the Power BI service for internal customers. The architect must possess deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, BI architecture, and enabling data-driven decision making and self-service analytics. The architect will apply controls to ensure data integrity, performance, and privacy of bank data. Major Responsibilities

Architect, design, develop, and maintain end-to-end BI solutions based on the Microsoft Power BI platform. Define strategy to build-out and adoption of the Power BI platform at the bank. Develop and manage an enterprise semantic model enabling consistent, reusable business logic across Power BI objects and teams. Collaborate with data engineers to create scalable and flexible data models optimized for Power BI report and dashboard delivery. Manage the Power BI service including workspace and capacity management, gateway configuration, usage metrics, monitoring, auditing, and permissions. Drive efficiency through automation where possible. Stay current on new features within the platform. Serve as the SME for Power BI architecture, design, and build. Define and share best practices, create documentation, templates, and guide cards to standardize development of Power BI objects including SDLC requirements. Educate users on semantic models, templates, and reports; partner with business users to guide effective use of datasets and reports. Collaborate with internal customers to understand reporting requirements; build and maintain an inventory of dataset needs to be prioritized and delivered; coordinate with data engineers to align focus. Off-hours support on a rotating schedule. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence architecture and data modeling. 5+ years of Power BI development experience. Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory). 4+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other SQL. Expert level proficiency with at least two BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Business Objects, MicroStrategy). Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M Language). Demonstrated experience with relational data warehouse design and management. Demonstrated experience with SDLC, agile/scrum methodology, and software tools and practices. Experience securing and managing reporting including PII data is a plus. Skills/Knowledge

Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills. Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end BI applications according to specifications. Solid knowledge of database functionality, including performance, security, and reliability. Understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle and ability to contribute. Ability to collaborate in developing processes, technologies, and standards. Self-directed and able to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users and staff. Working Conditions

Inside environmental conditions typical of an open floor-plan office; travel to other work locations may be required. Reports to the VP, Data Engineering and Operations Manager.
