Job Summary As a team member in our Alternative Investments practice, the Tax Senior Manager will assist in providing tax compliance & consulting services to BDO's Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.

Job Duties Tax Compliance:

Ensures that clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and ensures that self and client service teams comply with Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).

Applies understanding of client-specific circumstances, documentation, and legal requirements to prepare required filings (tax returns) using a documented review process to ensure full compliance while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.

Ensures data needed for filing requirements is collected and communicates missing items to the team promptly.

Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.

Teems effectively with Partners, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects (follow up on Open items).

Delivers high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.

Leads complex engagements with a team of tax professionals and manages the engagement budget, billing, and collections.

Builds and manages client relationships; assists in developing new clients and opportunities.

Documents client work and conclusions in the client tax file.

Tax Consulting:

Identifies, develops, recommends, and implements efficient and effective tax strategies.

Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Managing teams of Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education

Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.

Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

Experience

Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required.

Prior supervisory experience, required.

Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, preferred.

Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships, preferred.

License/Certifications

CPA certification, Attorney admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) or equivalent, required.

Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role, preferred.

CFP or Master’s in Tax, preferred.

Software

Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat, preferred.

Experience with tax research databases, preferred.

Proficient in tax compliance process software, preferred.

Ability to develop and maintain client relationships with executive presence as a primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions.

Individual salaries offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of multiple factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $146,000 - $200,000

Colorado Range: $120,000 - $185,000

Illinois Range: $140,000 - $190,000

Maryland Range: $150,000 - $180,000

Massachusetts Range: $150,000 - $206,000

Minnesota Range: $130,000 - $190,000

New Jersey Range: $155,000 - $200,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $190,000 - $225,000

Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Washington DC Range: $162,000 - $190,000
