Overview Principal Risk Specialist

As a Principal Associate in Capital One’s Retail Bank’s Risk Office, you will apply your risk management, analytical and delivery skills to profile risk mitigation programs. You will partner across Retail Bank to develop and support business resilience solutions that protect customers, shareholders, and associates. You will collaborate with peers, senior leaders, second and third lines of defense, and lines of business to drive risk reduction in an open environment that welcomes new ideas and solutions.

Retail Bank Risk professionals operate within a highly collaborative team to deliver value-added risk services to business partners. The Principal Associate will be a motivated Risk Management professional with strong collaboration, judgment, problem solving, analytical and communication skills, helping drive adherence to Capital One’s business continuity, resilience and risk management requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide risk guidance and expertise to drive Business Continuity Management and Resilience efforts across Retail Bank.

Support all facets of Business Continuity activities to gain assurance that resilient strategies are in place and adequately tested.

Execute and mature Retail Bank’s business continuity and resilience programs through identification of process improvements that drive efficiencies and sustainability, and demonstrate adherence to Enterprise Business Continuity Standard and Policy.

Assist with identification, tracking and mitigation/remediation of all aspects of Business Continuity & Resilience Management through controls, risks and issues.

Collaboratively partner with other Line of Business Risk offices, 2nd Line Risk Management functions and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate business continuity risk and drive results.

Assist with development, delivery, and support of data analytics regarding Retail Bank’s risk management practices, outcomes and trends to drive action.

Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines.

Provide Audit and Exam management support.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.

At least 3 years of risk management or compliance experience.

At least 2 years of Business Continuity or Technical experience.

At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal clients around problem solving.

At least 2 years of Project Management experience.

At least 1 year of experience using Google Suite products.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Military experience.

5+ years of Risk Management experience.

4+ years of Business Continuity or Technical experience.

2+ years of complex data analysis and reporting.

ABCP or CBCP Certification.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk Specialist

Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
