Overview

The Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Hospital Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa is seeking a full-time Pediatric Nocturnist hospital physician. This position will be assigned to overnight shifts and is required to take call. The appointment is primarily clinical with involvement in the residency teaching program. Duties include in-house patient care based at St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Tampa, FL. There is an opportunity for participation in the quality program and other educational and hospital-based leadership opportunities with the ability to strengthen clinical assessment without the requirement of hospital fellowship training. Responsibilities

Manage pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and provide direct medical care in a hospital setting. Diagnose, treat, and manage a range of medical conditions relevant to pediatric inpatients and medically complex cases. Typically report to the head of a medical department and participate in teaching and service activities as appropriate to the hospitalist role. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital-based leadership activities as available. Adhere to hospital and university policies, including credentialing requirements and patient safety standards. Qualifications

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field with demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Board Certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred, however, not required. Current PALS and/or NRP certification required. Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties are performed.
