We are currently looking for mid-level associates with domestic and international Project Finance experience to join the projects practice in our Washington, DC office. You should demonstrate excellent legal knowledge and a strong intellectual curiosity to develop expertise across a broad range of industries and sectors. You should have strong analytical and drafting skills and be comfortable navigating the contractual intricacies of complex, large-scale projects. Highly organized and deadline-focused, you should be adept at managing multiple work streams and delivering high-quality work within tight timeframes. You should enjoy working as part of a multi-national team, have good communication skills, and be able to build strong professional relationships. The work is often high-profile and can take months or years to close; you should be patient, flexible with hours, and proactive in taking on responsibility to exceed expectations of colleagues and clients. You will work with leading practitioners within the Group and with colleagues from M&A, Capital Markets and Regulatory & Compliance on multidisciplinary project teams. As an associate, you will handle significant project development and project finance work, with opportunities for learning and professional development. The work can be demanding but rewarding, contributing to high-profile projects with lasting impact. Duties and Accountabilities
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating credit facilities and related financing documentation, including security agreements, accounts agreements, and intercreditor arrangements. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating purchase and sale, procurement, project development, construction, joint venture, supply and offtake agreements. Counseling clients on joint ventures, private equity investments and strategic transactions related to the practice. Managing deal teams and processes across practice areas and geographic locations. Solving legal problems relating to heavily regulated industries. Managing and conducting due diligence. Conducting research or drafting memoranda as needed for clients. Serving as primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel and transactional teams. Providing clear written and verbal communications and exercising good judgment. Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on day-to-day matters and client service delivery. Mentoring and training junior team members and participating in continuing education and client development initiatives. Qualifications
4+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience in project finance / finance Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity; creative thinker Admitted in Washington, D.C. Commercial and business awareness Outstanding communication and negotiation skills Strong time management skills; ability to stay calm under pressure with multiple projects Excellent drafting skills Client service focus Team player Proactive, resourceful and takes initiative Location and Reporting
