Serves as the Director of the Office of Admissions, managing undergraduate student admissions and recruitment and graduate student recruitment and application processing. Oversees the student information system, document imaging system, and other technologies to assist in managing admissions and recruitment operations. Responsible for enrollment data collection, analysis, and reports for the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (VPEM), Vice Provosts, Deans, Board of Regents, Manoa Business and Finance Office, and others as requested. Represents the Office of Admissions by serving on various University committees and participating in appropriate state and national professional organizations at both the undergraduate and graduate level of admissions/recruitment. Manages the departmental budget to meet organization goals, provides for efficient management of resources, and be in compliance with applicable University, state and federal regulations. Organizes, tracks, reports, and assess data to inform and shape admissions efforts to assist in the intersection of enrollment and meeting net revenue goals. Oversees the effective deployment of communication plans driven by the University's customer relationship management (CRM) system and the team that assesses, maintains, and conducts an annual review of the communication plan and software. Determines solutions for undergraduate and graduate enrollment issues and maintains knowledge of the UH System, state and federal regulations, and university procedures. Ensures the efficiency of admission practices by assisting staff supervisors to develop and maintain procedure manuals for admissions staff and coordinate informational updates with other administrative offices. Serves as University liaison with UH System, community colleges, and other 4-year bachelor’s and graduate degree granting institutions on matters relating to student admissions. Collaborates with faculty, financial aid, student affairs, marketing, athletics staff, and other departments across the campus in support of student admissions and recruitment. Collaborates with the VPEM to determine solutions for the development, execution, and assessment of enrollment and financial aid strategies to ensure a strategic and holistic approach to meet enrollment goals. Monitors trends and best admissions and enrollment practices, and introduces relevant opportunities to the University to bring new ideas and innovations to campus. Responsible for researching and implementing emerging technology-based developments to improve Admissions processing, recruitment, and the student experience. Serves as the Athletic liaison and oversees the review of admissions application documents and admissions decisions for athletes to be in compliance with NCAA. Implements, reviews, and recommends changes to admissions policies maintained by UHM schools and colleges. Assists the VPEM by performing studies and preparing reports, proposals, position papers, and other documents relating to admissions for internal and external review and decision-making. Reviews problem situations and exercises informed professional judgment in determining exceptions to policy or taking other appropriate action. Reviews and independently makes decisions for special admissions cases and requests for exceptions to policies. Develops and administers the University's admissions and transfer of credit policies in concert with Deans/Chairs and appropriate faculty committees. Designs and manages the comprehensive admissions policies and procedures in collaboration with faculty and academic leadership to include Faculty Senate committees. Maintains and nurtures effective communication and partnerships throughout the university by conferring with business units and University leaders on issues pertaining to the promotion and understanding of the Admissions Office functions. Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the office's goals and objectives. Manages and supervises supervisors through subordinate supervisors and is responsible for technical and administrative supervision of 30 or more full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, as well as a significant team of requisite student employee staff members. Oversees the admissions publications and marketing messages to include electronic, social media and paper-based, for branding, clarity, accuracy, and appeal. Oversees the review of undergraduate applications to ensure accurate assessment and decisions by admissions counselors. Oversees the processing of graduate applications to ensure accurate workflow processing to departments/faculty rendering admissions decisions. Serves as a liaison to local and national public schools (including secondary school, colleges, and universities) ensuring transparent and positive relationships with school personnel to include principals, school counselors, teachers, faculty, and staff involved with the undergraduate and graduate application processes. Conducts a variety of individual and group presentations to potential applicants, applicants, parents, school officials, the general public, as well as at conferences and college fairs, regarding UH Manoa program offerings, admissions policies, procedures, and issues. These events may occur at on- or off-campus sites, including travel to neighbor island, domestic and/or international locations, often requiring a flexible schedule with night, weekend, and holiday work. Represents Enrollment Management in the absence of the VPEM, as required and requested. Develops and implements a comprehensive student recruitment plan to meet University enrollment goals. Education and Professional Work Experience Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education, counseling, communication, business, social science or related field and 10 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in higher education, admissions or enrollment management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Extensive knowledge of innovative and state-of-the-art principles, concepts, emerging theories, the current federal and state laws and associated rules, regulations and interpretations and systems associated with admissions and enrollment management in higher education. Demonstrated ability to develop short- and long-term plans of actions, understand problems from a broad perspective, use unconventional reasoning to discern broad underlying principles and issues when problem solving. Demonstrated written and verbal mastery in presenting ideas, theories, issues, and models clearly and accurately using persuasion and negotiation to build consensus and cooperation and provide long-term direction and leadership. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
