The Senior Trade Analyst will assist the Revenue Growth Management (RGM) Center of Excellence, in execution, compliance and resolution around key CBD initiatives and objectives for retailer trade promotions, slotting, and demos, as well as the tools used to manage the business and ensure accuracy in the financial forecast.
Trade Budgeting & Planning
Shape divisional trade strategy by delivering insights that influence pricing, promotion mix, and customer investment decisions.
Manage the Consumer Brands Division (CBD) trade, slotting, and demos budgets
Collaborate with Sales and the COE on the development of annual customer promotional plans.
Meet with Marketing to align trade and consumer support plans
Support execution of trade strategy to ensure plans and spending are in line with divisional AOP targets and budgets
Leverage Category Management and Shopper Insights work to inform and optimize trade strategies
Analyze key competitors’ trade strategies and communicate to sales management
Construct sales templates for use during annual Mid-Year Sales and JSM planning meetings
Lead analytical support for annual Sales Target setting process, ensuring alignment with divisional growth objectives
Provide forecast to Senior Management on committed trade activity
Monitor and identify potential overspend issues versus target spend rates and proactively work with Sales and Finance to address, align, and resolve outstanding accrual issues
Analytics & Insights
Proactively analyze promotional results and ROI.
Develop and communicate actionable insights on trade performance, trends, and opportunities to sales managers to increase trade investment effectiveness and efficiency and shape our trade policies and strategies
Identify customers and specific events that deliver the highest ROI on divisional trade dollars, alongside the RGM COE
Monthly alignment of planned promotions with consumption actuals
Pull and upload monthly syndicated data to platforms
Maintain data on Rich’s and competitive promoted price groups (PPGs)
Systems Management
Maintain TPM accuracy and leverage TPM/TPO platforms to deliver actionable insights to Sales
Lead promotion effectiveness and efficiency improvement via administration and management of the Blacksmith TPO platform.
Serve as CBD’s subject matter expert on Blacksmith TPO, being the main touch point for question related with use of the platform, and supporting system upgrades and work flows as necessary
Train on the custom syndicated data hierarchies and category management module.
Assist Blacksmith training for Sales Managers and other users to ensure proficiency with the system and trade processes
Lead monthly Trade review and planning meetings with Region Sales Managers. Identify customers where trade spend is above budget and follow up with team on action plans to resolve.
Maintain data on Rich’s and competitive promoted price groups (PPGs)
Support RGM COE in trade program approvals, scorecard updates, post-event and other ad hoc analysis.
Collaborate with Trade Settlement to provide visibility on accrual balances, liability exceptions, deductions, and aging reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or related Business degree (Accounting, Marketing), MBA preferred.
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant finance, accounting, trade, or analytics experience
Financial acumen including proven analytics skills, capable of interpreting and drawing relevant and actionable insights from various data resources and methodologies
Demonstrated ability organizing and prioritizing work, proven success in meeting multiple deadlines.
Demonstrated success in applying strong functional knowledge of financial terminology and processes
Demonstrated strong analytical skills, ability to connect the dots and draw insights from multiple sources of information, proven success in making recommendations
Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, Sales Planning & Operations, Finance and customers
Demonstrated ability influencing at all levels within the organization
Proficient systems knowledge and experience with syndicated POS and consumer household panel data (Nielsen, Circana), retailer specific scanner data/loyalty card programs, or other proprietary data sources.
Knowledge of PowerBI or other data visualization platforms, experience synthesizing multiple data sources to create and maintain data visualizations, a plus.
Customer-facing experience preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills, proven success in demonstrating solid presentation skills
Solid Microsoft Office software proficiency with Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Trade systems – preferably Blacksmith or other trade management tool
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, with competing priorities
Travel up to 10% as needed
