Responsibilities

Provide medical care to all age groups in accordance with the State of Washington Department of Licensing and professional scope of practice. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic medical services to CHC patients, including sound medical assessments and treatment plans. Provide low-risk obstetric care, including prenatal care, routine deliveries, and postpartum care. Obtain complete medical history and physical data from patients; interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures; interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention; recommend community resources as needed. Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions; promote medical care through direct patient care and education. Identify special needs of CHC patients and work with staff to address those needs; participate in Quality Improvement and Utilization Management programs. Document encounters accurately and timely; provide therapeutic interventions following accepted guidelines or protocols. Coordinate delivery of care with appropriate clinical staff to ensure quality of care; adhere to attendance standards for daily operations and continuity of patient care.

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited school; completion of an accredited residency program in family practice, internal medicine, or pediatrics. Licensure: Physician license (MD/DO) with the State of Washington; DEA registration; hospital privileges (must be obtained within 60 days of employment). Board eligibility/board certification by ABMS or AOA in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics (board certification must be obtained within one year from date of hire). Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 45 days of employment. Experience: Not less than 0.5 FTE of patient care within the past year; CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding experience; experience with electronic health records and practice management systems; experience in a multi-provider medical practice; experience serving low-income, multi-ethnic populations. Skills: English proficiency; ability to work independently and in a team; strong organizational and prioritization abilities; ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations; problem-solving skills; knowledge of medical terminology; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Preferred: Bilingual skills; additional education/training in family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and prenatal care; Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO). Other: Driver's license for the state of Washington; appropriate liability insurance or bonding as required.
