A dynamic and growing real estate development company is looking for a
General Counsel
to join the team in Minneapolis. This is a highly strategic and hands-on role for an experienced attorney with a strong background in real estate law. Responsibilities
Serve as the company’s primary legal advisor and build the in-house legal function. Provide counsel on all aspects of real estate transactions, including
acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, financing, and joint ventures . Oversee contract negotiation, structuring, and documentation for complex real estate and corporate transactions. Advise senior leadership on legal risk, compliance, governance, and regulatory matters. Manage relationships with outside counsel and ensure cost-effective, high-quality legal services. Support strategic growth initiatives and serve as a business-minded partner to the executive team. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 10+ years of legal experience, including significant work in real estate development, acquisitions, leasing, and financing. Combination of top-tier law firm training and in-house or direct company-side experience strongly preferred. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to balance legal risk and business opportunity. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, build systems, and grow a legal function from the ground up. Excellent communication, judgment, and leadership skills.
