Overview

Gould & Ratner LLP is seeking an experienced Estate Planning & Wealth Transfer Partner to join its Tax and Wealth Transfer Practice Group. This attorney will have significant experience advising closely held businesses and high-net worth individuals and families in complex and sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, business succession planning, philanthropy and all related income tax matters. This role allows a flexible work schedule with a hybrid remote/in-office presence. Responsibilities

Provide estate planning, wealth transfer, and related income tax advisory services to closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals and families. Assist with business succession planning and multi-generational wealth transfer strategies. Advise on the formation of family entities to manage and control family investments. Support executors through estate administration, including preparation of estate tax returns and probate matters. Develop and maintain client relationships, acting as a business advisor across financial, business and tax matters throughout clients’ life cycles. Demonstrate leadership within the Wealth Transfer Group and contribute to the Firm’s succession planning and client development efforts. Qualifications

Portable book of business required. Significant experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families and entrepreneurial businesses on tax-efficient ownership structures. Experience planning for management succession of family-owned businesses and familiarity with multi-generational wealth transfer techniques. Experience forming family entities to aid in management and control of family investments. Experience assisting executors through estate administration, including preparation of estate tax returns and post-mortem planning. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with current clients and develop new client relationships and business. Exceptional leadership potential to assume a leadership role within the Wealth Transfer Group and the Firm. Accounting, business, or finance background is a plus. CPA, CFP and/or LL.M. in taxation strongly preferred. Bar admission: currently licensed in Illinois or licensed in another state with a UBE score qualifying in Illinois for comity, eligible to waive in, or willing to sit for the IL bar exam; relocation eligible for candidates meeting requirements.
