We are hiring a Senior Director level individual to support our growing Retail business. This role focuses on expertise in Revenue Growth Management (RGM advisory) coupled with broader end-to-end commercial excellence experience. This individual will join a high-performing unit delivering best-in-class RGM strategies across the consumer goods universe. As a Senior Director, you will be a vital member of our Consumer consulting team focused on Retail strategy, delivering value-based outcomes while contributing to Simon-Kucher’s culture and success. Cultivate trusted-partner client relationships, source project opportunities, and develop project proposals leading to revenue generation. Deliver solutions by leveraging deep content knowledge and client relationship-building skills, with expertise in the Consumer sector, specifically within Retail. Bring knowledge across commercial and go-to-market topics within retail including pricing strategy, promotion effectiveness, markdowns and clearance optimization, assortment optimization and white space identification, merchandising and value proposition, consumer segmentation, loyalty program design, and omnichannel strategies. Identify client pain points and develop custom solutions to complex strategy engagements. Own client engagements and projects within the Consumer sector, specifically Consumer Goods organizations. Participate in proposal development and pre-sales meetings with potential new clients to address their needs and challenges, while expanding SK’s footprint, offerings, and client base. Demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, scale, and manage delivery balancing customer success, project profitability, and employee satisfaction, while incorporating client feedback. Lead and guide a large and talented team of junior consultants to develop innovative insights and actionable recommendations using data, analytics, and research. Willingness and ability to act as a hands-on player, delivering complex change/program management projects. Effectively manage multiple engagements and project teams concurrently, including coaching and developing team members. Proactively steer the continued growth and development of Simon-Kucher’s Consumer sector, Retail practice by pursuing new capabilities, thought leadership, and business opportunities. Develop and deliver thought leadership focused on Retail strategy, in collaboration with peers and senior team members. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to clients’ businesses. Analyze existing processes and tools and recommend opportunities for improvement. Demonstrate empathy and emotional intelligence in managing conflict and change. Play a role in recruitment and integration of new consultants with a focus on Retail. Outstanding drive and determination to be part of a growing, top-tier consulting firm. Strong knowledge and passion for the Consumer sector, with a focus on Retail. An undergraduate degree is required; MS, MA, MBA, or other advanced degree is preferred. Minimum 10+ years of experience in a professional services environment, ideally in management consulting, serving the Consumer sector, specifically Retail. Proven business consulting expertise in growth strategies, go-to-market strategy, segmentation (advanced analytics), product and portfolio design, pricing, marketing, value proposition development, distribution strategy (omni-channel, digitization, channel orchestration), sales strategies, and monetization. Access to an existing network within the Consumer Retail industry in North America, preferably with senior executives within Retail organizations. Proven ability to build relationships, identify client pain points, and develop solutions at the executive level to sell complex strategy engagements; proven ability to identify new revenue opportunities with existing clients. Proven ability to manage client engagements within Retail organizations and deliver value at scale. Team-first leader with skills in recruiting, developing, mentoring, and retaining top talent. Experience building and leading a Consumer sector Retail practice in a professional services environment with a focus on profitable revenue growth and IP development. Hands-on leadership, capable of delivering complex change/program management projects. Demonstrated ability to build deep relationships with senior clients and to sell and manage new and follow-on engagements. Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill insights from large data sets. Proven problem-solving, team leadership, and ability to meet tight timelines. Experience managing multiple engagements with budgets, schedules, and accounts receivable. Effective presentation and communication skills for senior audiences. Inclusive and empathetic leadership that delivers tangible client returns and cross-team collaboration. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to travel at least 25% of the time. The pay range for this position in New York is $240,000-$275,000/year. Compensation may vary depending on relevant experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs.
