The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority was created on January 1, 1997 as a joint powers authority with responsibility for the solid waste facilities and disposal services for the eastern portion of Monterey County, including the entire Salinas Valley corridor. The Authority supports the cities of Salinas, Gonzales, King City, Greenfield, Soledad and adjoining unincorporated areas within Monterey County. The Authority staff currently consists of 67 employees. The management staff directs employees in four divisions: operations, diversion services, administration and finance and engineering and environmental compliance. Responsibilities
Provide leadership to the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority, directing operations, diversion services, administration and finance, and engineering and environmental compliance. Keep staff informed and provide the Board with balanced, professional assessments and reporting. Lead the organization with a strong understanding of the solid waste business, financing, environmental regulations and recycling. Qualifications
Team-oriented, capable manager and talented leader. Experienced manager and effective communicator capable of clear staff and Board engagement. Compensation and Benefits
The salary for the incoming General Manager is negotiable and is dependent upon qualifications. The Authority also offers an attractive benefits package.
