Position Title: Chief Executive Officer

General Objectives: Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kentucky is a 501(c)(3) organization with the objective of bringing together key stakeholders from across our communities, to empower the growth and continuation of Kentucky’s 15 Regional Children’s Advocacy Centers. Our CEO will support the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kentucky by promoting, assisting and supporting the development, growth and continuation of Children’s Advocacy Centers in the Commonwealth. The CEO will be responsible for the administration of the organization and its activities according to established policies.

Responsible To: Board of Directors

Key Duties

Oversee day-to-day operations of CAC Kentucky and carry out the purposes and policies of the organization as determined by the Board of Directors and CAC Director’s Council.

Provide technical support, resource information and other support services to Children’s Advocacy Centers across Kentucky.

Seek and secure new funding sources, by writing grants and forging relationships with community foundations and potential contributors to advance the organization’s mission.

Maintain positive relationships with funders and provide monthly and quarterly reports as required by each funding source

Coordinate quarterly meetings and specially called meetings of the Board of Directors and CAC Director’s Council.

Attend board subcommittee meetings as requested and prepare materials for meetings.

Perform research and provide data for committees when needed.

Act on behalf of CAC Kentucky as a liaison to core team agencies.

Facilitate a statewide public relations plan.

Identify training needs among child abuse professionals and create/lead opportunities to meet those needs.

Assist with passing legislation and helping in courts to further the CAC Kentucky’s mission and goals.

Provide education and advocacy to legislators, judges, executive branch personnel, community agencies, and other coalitions, as well as the general public, to further the organization’s mission and goals.

Attend relevant national, state and community meetings/conferences acting as a representative of CAC Kentucky.

Travel regionally and throughout the state to promote the organization’s mission.

Identify and assist with issues as they develop throughout the state.

Act on behalf of CAC Kentucky to facilitate and maintain positive relationships with core multi-disciplinary team agencies, community partners and other community agencies.

Facilitate the maintenance of the CAC Kentucky website and other social media outlets.

All other responsibilities as required by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

A Master’s Degree or other professional-level degree from an accredited college or university and three years’ work experience in a related field (e.g. business administration, human services, nonprofit management, etc.) and a proven track record of nonprofit leadership and development preferred. Bachelor’s degree will be considered with relevant professional experience.

Be an engaging, energetic, independent, organized, and autonomous individual with a high degree of commitment, consistent follow-through, and ability to self-motivate.

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Grant writing experience is preferred.

Be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Presentations, with competency in Excel Spreadsheets and QuickBooks Accounting Software preferred.

Familiarity with board governance, community outreach, volunteerism, media relations, and managing development operations.

Valid driver’s license.

The ability to pass relevant background checks (criminal records, child abuse/neglect registry checks).

Experience working with an involved Board of Directors.

Reside in Central Kentucky, Louisville or Northern Kentucky or willingness to relocate to the area.

Willingness to travel to Frankfort, Lexington and throughout the Commonwealth 40% of time.
