The organization is known for programs such as Bastille Day on Madison Avenue, Crossing The Line, Animation First, and the Comic Arts Fest. Position Summary

L’Alliance New York is seeking an experienced, highly organized, versatile, and editorially sharp Director of Public Relations & Editorial to lead public-facing communications across the organization. This role will shape the voice of L’Alliance New York—managing media relationships, press and public relations, collaborating on content, and ensuring clarity and consistency of our brand voice across platforms. Responsibilities include developing and executing internal and external communication strategies across diverse platforms, ensuring consistent brand messaging and a positive public image. This leadership position requires expertise in mentoring and developing a collaborative team environment with internal staff and external partners. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Communications, you will be a senior member of the Marketing & Communications team, collaborating with the Director of Audience Development & Marketing to ensure campaigns tell a clear, cohesive story across formats and channels. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and drive a multi-channel communications strategy aligned with organizational objectives, encompassing proactive brand awareness, program promotion, and crisis communication protocols. Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of efficient processes for creating marketing and communication materials. Track KPIs across platforms to inform data-driven decisions. Stay at the forefront of AI-driven marketing tools and trends to streamline press workflows and enhance editorial content. Editorial Leadership: Own and evolve L’Alliance New York’s brand voice across all communications. Oversee writing and editing of all materials, ensuring tone, accuracy, and style consistency across press releases, program and class descriptions, web copy, newsletters, signage, and other program materials. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure cohesive messaging, and work with the Director of Audience Development & Marketing to align materials with editorial voice. Press, Public Relations & Media: Lead all press and media relations, including pitching stories, writing and distributing press releases, obtaining previews and reviews, coordinating interviews, and managing press timelines. Maintain an existing network of journalists and editors in New York, nationally, and international markets (France and francophone regions). Prepare press kits, coordinate media attendance at events, and respond to inquiries. Develop crisis communication plans and manage sensitive communications. Attend events as needed to greet press and support marketing functions. Monitor media coverage and manage press archives and analytics. Event Photography Coordination: Manage event photography scheduling and documentation, maintain a system for photo usage and archiving, coordinate with photographers and staff to ensure brand-aligned coverage, and oversee face-sheets for key events. Assist with filming and photography at events as needed. The job description is not exhaustive; the role may require additional duties aligned with organizational objectives. Who You Are

This role may be a great fit if you: Are highly experienced in press, PR, and editorial management Are an exceptional writer and editor with strong tone, clarity, narrative structure, and grammar Have proven experience managing public-facing content across digital and print formats Are highly organized with superb attention to detail and clear copy approval workflows Foster collaborative relationships and resolve conflicts to maintain a positive, efficient work environment Are comfortable managing event photography and working with creative teams Are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment Are passionate about culture, language, education, and storytelling Experience & Qualifications

6–8 years of experience in communications, editorial, and PR, ideally in nonprofit, cultural, or education settings Strong leadership and management skills with a track record in strategic communications planning and execution, including crisis responses Excellent written and verbal communication with meticulous attention to detail Proven success in securing media coverage for New York and/or international educational or arts institutions Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams Active, robust media contacts network in New York and France Knowledge of emerging marketing technologies, including AI tools, with the ability to apply them to editorial and media reach Familiarity with email platforms, CMS, and collaborative tools (Google Workspace, Asana, Wordpress, MailChimp, etc.) Willingness to work select evenings and weekends at L’Alliance New York events in Manhattan and Montclair, NJ French language proficiency is a strong plus Why Join Us
