Overview

Machine Learning Scientist - NLP - Sr. Associate - Machine Learning Center of Excellence. The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) at JPMorgan Chase is responsible for accelerating the firm’s data and analytics journey, ensuring data quality, integrity and security, and leveraging data to generate insights and drive decision-making. The role involves applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop new products, improve productivity, and enhance risk management in a responsible manner. This position offers the opportunity to tackle novel and complex challenges that could transform how the bank operates. Base pay range: $128,250.00/yr - $195,000.00/yr. Locations include Seattle, WA and Palo Alto, CA. Responsibilities

Research and explore new machine learning methods through independent study, conferences, experimentation, and knowledge sharing. Develop state-of-the-art ML models for real-world tasks such as natural language processing (NLP), speech analytics, time-series predictions, and recommendation systems. Collaborate with Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy and Business Management teams to deploy solutions into production. Drive firm-wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworks to accelerate the application of ML models across different business areas. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Science) or an MS with at least 3 years of industry or research experience in the field. Solid background in NLP or speech recognition and analytics, personalization/recommendation; hands-on experience with ML and deep learning methods. Extensive experience with ML/deep learning toolkits (TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas). Ability to design experiments and training frameworks; evaluate intrinsic and extrinsic metrics aligned with business goals. Experience with big data and scalable model training; strong written and spoken communication for technical and business audiences. Scientific thinking with the ability to work independently and in collaborative teams. Curious, hardworking, detail-oriented, and motivated by solving complex analytical problems. Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics; familiarity with financial services and CI/CD practices. Knowledge in search/ranking, Reinforcement Learning or Meta Learning. Experience with A/B testing, data/metric-driven product development, and cloud-native deployment at large scale; ability to develop production-quality code. Published research in ML, Deep Learning or RL at a major conference or journal. About Us
