Job Title:
Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes/Terraform with Java Development & IAM)
Location:
Charlotte, NC (Onsite 4x/week)
Contract Length:
12-18 months
Role Overview
We are looking for a
hands-on DevOps Engineer
with a strong background in
AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform , and prior
Java backend development
experience. The role centers on supporting and scaling Identity and Access Management (IAM) services that enable secure customer authentication, API integrations, and backend connectivity across multiple business lines.
This is a
backend-heavy role
requiring someone who can seamlessly combine infrastructure automation expertise with solid programming foundations.
Must-Have Skills Candidates
must
demonstrate strong, hands-on experience in the following:
Cloud:
AWS (EKS, ECS, IAM, Networking, Security best practices)
Containers & Orchestration:
Kubernetes (deployments, scaling, troubleshooting, monitoring)
Infrastructure as Code:
Terraform (writing reusable modules, managing environments, state management)
Programming:
Strong
Java backend development background
(REST APIs, authentication services, security protocols)
CI/CD Pipelines:
Experience building and maintaining automated pipelines for deployments and testing.
Linux/Unix Systems:
Solid command-line, scripting (Bash/Python), and troubleshooting skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Not mandatory, but highly beneficial)
IAM (Identity & Access Management):
Authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth2, SAML, MFA, RBAC).
Security & Compliance:
Implementing policies, secure API integration, secrets management (Vault/SSM).
Monitoring & Logging:
Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack, or equivalent.
Networking Concepts:
Load balancing, DNS, service discovery, VPCs, firewalls, security groups.
Responsibilities
Build, manage, and optimize
AWS-based Kubernetes environments
supporting IAM and backend authentication services.
Develop and maintain
Terraform infrastructure modules
for scalable deployments.
Collaborate with developers to
deploy and integrate backend Java services
with IAM systems and APIs.
Implement
security best practices
across identity and access management systems.
Troubleshoot production issues related to
cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, or backend APIs .
Enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve release speed, reliability, and automation coverage.
Partner with cross-functional teams (security, platform, backend) to support enterprise-wide identity services.
