Position:
Senior Director of Manufacturing
Our client is a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of animal bedding produced from sustainably harvested trees, including wood shavings, wood pellets, natural cat litter, and residential energy pellets. The role leads the lean transition and oversees all facets of the manufacturing process to drive productivity, safety, profitability, and operational consistency across all plants.
Responsibilities
Lead and sustain a lean manufacturing culture across all plants; drive productivity, safety, profitability, and operational consistency.
Manage daily operations of manufacturing facilities; develop a visual workplace and standardized processes.
Evaluate potential acquisitions and assess operational fit; improve inventory management for raw materials, spare parts, and packaging.
Support and develop plant management teams; mentor leaders to enable growth and succession planning.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on Lean methodologies and TPM to maximize throughput and equipment reliability.
Partner with Executive leadership to analyze strategic growth opportunities and optimize cost controls.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related field required; MBA a plus.
Experience:
10+ years of leadership in wood product manufacturing operations with emphasis on operational efficiency, inventory management, and customer service.
Systems & Tools:
Experience implementing and managing ERP systems, operational analytics, and production management tools.
Leadership:
Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills; ability to inspire teams at all levels.
Acquisitions:
Proven ability to analyze and integrate acquisitions.
Lean:
Experience applying Lean methodologies to non-lean operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ERP systems preferred.
Engineering or technical background preferred.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
