Overview
Healthy Kids is seeking a dynamic Director to lead the Before and After Care Pre-K Program at Mahopac Falls Academy in Mahopac, NY. As the Director, you will be the driving force behind every aspect of the operation of the Healthy Kids Program Site.
Job Status:
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am – 8:30 am and 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Pay:
$17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Responsibilities
Guiding Compliance:
Ensure that both staff and the program adhere to OCFS guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and the rules set by the host school.
Bringing the Fun:
Direct engaging hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids Curriculum, covering fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. Include homework completion and serve as the homework hero.
Managing Like a Boss:
Manage essential tasks, including maintaining accurate attendance and registration records, and ensuring proper staffing levels to keep the program running smoothly.
Communication:
Maintain open lines of communication with parents and family members through the Playground App.
Team Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with your direct report to keep them informed of daily occurrences and address issues promptly, fostering a positive working environment and high-quality care.
Education and Experience To be qualified as a director, a person must possess either:
Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field; and two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field.
OR
A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; and two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field.
OR
A School-Child Care Credential or another office-recognized credential specific to the school-development period; and two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.
OR
An Associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field; and two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.
Lead Teacher Qualifications
9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to the following options:
Child Development Associate Credential;
Other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period; or
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field.
Two years of experience related to caring for children.
OR
– Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period with one year of experience caring for children.
OR
– Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field with one year of experience caring for children.
Qualifications
You must be medically fit to perform all duties and free of communicable diseases, including TB.
You are warm, friendly, and upbeat with strong people skills for interactions with kiddos, parents, and team members; professional, reliable, and punctual.
Ability to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed to meet the demands of energetic children.
