About Our Client Our client is a leading General Contractor based in San Diego, specializing in complex and high-value commercial construction projects across Southern California. With a commitment to quality, innovation, and collaboration, they deliver award-winning buildings and spaces that meet our clients’ visions while exceeding industry standards.
Position Overview Seeking a highly driven and experienced Senior Project Engineer to support project execution from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction, thrive in a fast-paced GC environment, and demonstrate the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project operations
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control processes
Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment and progress
Track schedules, budgets, procurement, and progress reporting
Participate in meetings, inspections, and quality assurance processes
Support preconstruction activities including estimating and bid coordination
Mentor and guide junior engineers as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field
2+ years of experience in commercial construction at the GC level
Proficiency in construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and/or P6
Solid understanding of construction documents, building systems, and sequencing
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
OSHA 30 certification preferred
Preferred Project Experience
Ground-up commercial buildings (offices, retail, hospitality, etc.)
Tenant improvements and adaptive reuse
LEED-certified or sustainable construction projects
