Muon Space
Simulation is a core piece of how Muon gets things done. We have a simulation ecosystem that’s used for systems engineering, GNC development, operations planning, ground system planning, spacecraft scheduling, model fitting, flight software testing, and hardware testing. The same power model used when proposing a vehicle design to a customer is what we’ll use when running hardware-in-the-loop on nightlies of flight software once we have the real hardware in house, and it’s the same system the automated scheduler will use when deciding if a schedule is power-positive. Leading the development of a system this flexible is a challenge with a lot of leverage.
Responsibilities
Lead the simulation vision at Muon
Develop key simulation infrastructure features
Oversee documentation and tutorials to make sure new users can pick up our sim tools easily
Coordinate with the various program leads to make the features they need available when they need them
Oversee the integration of the simulation in other systems: software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, operations-in-the-loop, scheduling, maneuver planning, ground system planning, monitoring and mission analysis
Improve simulation ergonomics (it should keep getting easier over time, not harder)
Required Qualifications
A deep understanding of numerical methods
A deep understanding of modeling the low-Earth-orbit environment and spacecraft systems
A multi-disciplinary, systems-oriented view of problem-solving
The ability to resolve complexities elegantly
The ability to manage many types of users with completely different use cases
The ability to keep folks on the same page and make steady progress
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing Julia for an organization
Experience with cloud workflows
The salary range for this role is $207,000 - $234,000 and will depend on a candidate\'s skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
