Nurse Manager - Pre/Post Outpatient Surgery Center - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union). Location: Keck Medicine of USC, Hospital, Los Angeles, California. The Nurse Manager holds 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care, efficiency of operations, and human resources management for the department. S/he will strive to achieve the optimal patient experience in a cost-effective manner, while applying evidenced-based leadership and practice. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the provision of safe patient care, in a manner that is consistent with professional standards and hospital policies. S/he will role model performance and behaviors that are consistent with the values of the organization, furthering its mission, vision and strategic plan. The Nurse Manager collaborates with hospital administration, the medical staff, and regulatory requirements to administer patient care and services. This role manages daily nursing operations, promotes a positive, progressive, and healthy work environment through coaching, mentoring, and team building, maintains a stable and productive staff, involves staff at all levels in Shared Governance and Magnet initiatives, and makes data-driven decisions. Essential Duties: Responsibilities

Supervises day-to-day nursing care and operations for Keck Hospital. Promotes effective communication and working relationships among hospital units, department units, hospital staff, and department staff. Responsible for selecting and retaining qualified nursing staff. Works with Education and Human Resources to ensure orientation, training, and continuing education; leads recruitment and retention activities. Collaborates with the Department Chair, Division Chiefs, and Management Team to optimize nursing coverage and care. Ensures compliance with governing regulations (Title 22, JCAHO) and maintains standards of nursing practice; contributes to unit-based performance improvement programs. Supports shared governance, customer service standards, and monitors satisfaction for employees, patients, and physicians. Manages space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resources. Approves day-to-day deviations from staffing guidelines based on patient need; ensures Optilink is up to date; flexes staff by acuity, census, and budget guidelines. Approves monthly schedules and time-off requests; applies HR policies consistently for time off and shift changes. Communicates each staff member’s role in maintaining a high-performing unit and shares quality outcomes; engages staff in analyzing and improving practice. Collects and delegates data for performance improvement initiatives and avoids avoidable delays. Ensures completion of occurrence reports and timely investigations. Coordinates and integrates department services at intradepartmental and hospital-wide levels. Plans provision of services with qualified, competent staff; policies and procedures support scope of services. Participates in event escalation, issue resolution, planning, and goal setting for the department. Monitors staffing and productivity; manages attendance and Time and Attendance policies; coaches on Kronos and workflow. Maintains optimal nursing staffing and assigns duties across units; supports development of new hires toward competent, independent practice. Ensures 100% staff attendance at mandatory education and training; supports Shared Governance, Magnet, and Just Culture. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Five (5) years as an RN, including a minimum of three (3) years ICU experience and two (2) years in Pre-Op and PACU. At least two years in a management or charge nurse capacity in a clinical/hospital setting. Computer literacy in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and evaluation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service; focus on continuous quality improvement and results. Ability to develop professional practices; strong human resource management, independence, and teamwork capabilities; negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing (or in progress); strong preference for Master’s Degree in Nursing (may be in lieu of BSN). Critical Care Nursing Certificate (CCRN) or CRN. Required Licenses/Certifications

Registered Nurse (CA Board of Registered Nursing) – valid California license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or obtain within 30 days of hire and renew by expiration date (required within LA City). The annual base salary range for this position is $145,600.00 - $240,240.00. USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and applicable laws and market considerations when extending offers.
