Travel Post/Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Washington, DC. This role is with Fusion Medical Staffing. Competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and support from a dedicated clinical team. Responsibilities
Assess patients pre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential risks Prepare patients for surgery, including educating them about procedures and post-operative care Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia condition Monitor patients post-operatively for complications and manage pain and recovery Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients in the perioperative setting Observe and document patient conditions, treatments, significant incidents and responses to anesthesia and treatments Take vital signs and respond to deviations from normal Respond to emergency situations following pre/post-op nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols Document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including discharge instructions and recovery guidelines Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre- and post-operative care Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care Operate and monitor pre- and post-op equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards Qualifications
Required: One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification Preferred: ACLS Certifications Preferred: PALS certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficient in PC skills Physical ability to move and assist with equipment (50-100 lbs) and perform required tasks Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities Technical/motor skills for procedures and equipment operation Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail Sensory: Visual acuity and effective communication Benefits Include
