Clinical Nurse I : Pain Management Center - Full Time - 08HR - HHC Newport Beach Bldg 510 Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse I – MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned. Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program
Conducts Nursing assessments of patients, screening for needs and other health-related concerns. Performs patient assessments including vital signs and monitoring for patient needs. Work closely with MD/NP and therapists as a vital part of the treatment team. Coordinate care with outside providers. Monitor lab results and refer to physician within protocols and guidelines. Identify the need for crisis intervention and clinical nursing practice including personal care services, monitoring and reporting findings, medication self-administration, client teaching and health education, emergency intervention and other nursing services within professional scope of practice. Qualifications
Education and Experience Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of starting the BSN program. BSN preferred. Licenses
License Required Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing. Certifications Required All Clinical Nurse I's are required to have current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation. Acute Rehab: FIM certification. Advanced Brain and Spine Unit: NIHSS and ACLS required upon hire. Cardiac Telemetry: ACLS required upon hire. Completes annual stroke education per Hoag Hospital guidelines. Gamma Knife: ACLS required upon hire. GI Lab: ACLS. Gynecology/Urology: Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Provider Card required to administer chemotherapy on hire or within year of hire as designated by manager. Heart Valve Clinic and CVOR : BLS and ACLS required upon hire. Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): ACLS. Home Health: One (1) year of home health care experience preferred. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. Hospice: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, at least one of which is in the area of public health, home care, or hospice nursing is preferred. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. Outpatient Treatment Centers Infusion: Oncology Infusion the Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification required. OnSONCC. This certification is not required for Non-Oncology infusion. Oncology: ACLS upon hire. Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Provider Card required to administer chemotherapy. 1206d Oncology Specialty Clinic: BLS upon hire. Pain Management Center: ACLS upon hire. Pulmonary/Sepsis: ACLS upon hire. NIHSS certification is required within 30 days of hire/transfer to department. ACLS certification is required for HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray and related areas. PICC Services: ACLS certification is required. HHI Main X-Ray: ACLS certification is required. Hoag Imaging Center Newport Beach: ACLS Certification is required. Surgical (5 West and 6 West): ACLS required. Telemetry: ACLS required. Irvine Tele - NIHSS certification required as designated by Manager. Radiation Oncology: ACLS required within 60 days of hire. OCN preferred. Certifications Preferred Acute Rehab: Certified Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) and NIHSS certification. Advanced Brain and Spine Unit: CNRN &/or SCRN. Cardiac Telemetry: PCCN.
