Northrop Grumman seeks a Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer with deep expertise in cybersecurity engineering and testing methodologies to support the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. This role involves solving complex problems in a fast-paced DoD operational computing environment and delivering solutions in collaboration with systems engineers, software developers, and network engineers. The position supports national-level missile defense operations and tests. Position Overview
The C2BMC program provides an operational platform to plan missile defense operations, monitor progress, and manage networked sensors and weapon systems. The Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer will design, test, certify, and deliver secure systems as part of a cybersecurity team, with responsibilities spanning testing at unit, art, and solution levels, and coordination at a Cyber Test Facility (CTF). The role requires knowledge of RMF, security testing methodologies, and the ability to work with various stakeholders in a DoD environment. Essential Functions
Designing, developing, testing, certifying, and delivering secure systems as part of an integrated Cybersecurity team Performing unit-level, art-level, and solution-level release testing Managing testing activities at the Cyber Test Facility (CTF) Utilizing cybersecurity tools, patch management solutions, and security auditing tools to develop secure system designs Providing input and interpretation of RMF requirements, including success criteria Writing concise test steps and technical documentation; adhering to Common Criteria, NIST, and NIAP methodologies Collaborating with systems engineers, software developers, and network engineers Leveraging change and configuration management systems to coordinate updates and maintain version control Understanding RMF requirements and interpreting relevant standards Familiarity with Agile methodologies and automated testing frameworks Experience implementing best practices in Common Criteria, NIST, and NIAP Writing test cases and creating technical documentation Solving complex problems with ingenuity and creativity Ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver results aligned with organizational objectives Experience in project leadership roles and representing the organization on significant technical matters Strong communication skills to engage with interdisciplinary teams Qualifications
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with 8 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years Active DoD-issued Secret clearance at time of application and eligible to start Active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) Experience with tools such as ACAS, HBSS, ArcSight, Endgame, CyberArk, ICAP, MFA tools, UserLock, BitLocker, WSUS, Satellite, BigFix Experience with operating systems (RHEL, Windows 10, Windows Servers) and RBAC patching (Active Directory, GPOs, BigFix) Preferred Qualifications Agile experience (Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agilest) Knowledge of STIGs Exposure to test automation frameworks Familiarity with scanning and network assessment tools (e.g., Ansible, vulnerability scanning solutions) What We Can Offer You
