Overview
Scale is a vital part of bringing AI-enabled technologies to the world, from autonomous driving to drones, robots, and large language models. We work with top self-driving car and robotics ML teams as well as leading companies in the generative AI space. As our customer base grows, you will be on the front lines of field engineering for federal AI projects, impacting revenue by working closely with our largest public sector customers and helping them become passionate, lifelong Scale customers. Our Field Engineers ensure customers have a seamless, optimized experience with Scale’s technology and help build long-term partnerships. They partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to guide customers through production-grade data pipelines, understanding use-cases deeply and creating tooling and documentation to scale support for growth. Field Engineers are experts on Scale’s products and codebase, with general knowledge of web development, APIs, and large data handling. They are strong relationship builders, effective project managers, and enjoy collaborating with others. Responsibilities
Implement end-to-end data integrations, syncing customer data to Scale’s platform and back Collaborate with customer engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and contribute to API design and input/output schemas Design, develop, and maintain playbooks, internal tools, Scale’s documentation, and SDKs to enable quick customer setup and long-term success Partner with Software Engineers and Operations to remove technical hurdles, debug issues impacting delivery, and own customer escalations Own the customer’s technical experience throughout their time with Scale Work with AEs and PMs to identify customer-specific feature requests Develop technical domain expertise in Large Language Models, 2D Image Annotation, and API integrations Engage with customers at major events to evangelize Scale Have an active TS/SCI clearance Qualifications
Ideally you'd have
Track record as a hybrid customer-facing engineer or similar function, wearing multiple hats Hands-on experience working with clients in pre- or post-sales capacities to drive business goals Experience developing with Python and JavaScript or other modern languages Strong engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field Strong project management and interpersonal skills Strong presentation skills with technical credibility when engaging executives and engineers Excellent communication across internal and external teams Intellectual curiosity, empathy, and ability to operate with high velocity Nice to haves
Experience in AI Experience in classified environments Previous experience as a technical go-to-market resource Understanding of DevSecOps: secure software delivery, infrastructure as code, CI/CD Hands-on container orchestration with Kubernetes and Helm charts Experience automating infrastructure and configuration management with Ansible or similar tools Compensation and benefits
Compensation packages for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries, determined by location and related factors. Equity-based compensation may be granted subject to Board approval. The recruiter can share the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
