Overview

This role will be based in Mountain View, CA. The work location is hybrid and may involve both home and a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. LinkedIn seeks a Site Operations Engineer for its Site Operations team to proactively respond to alerts and resolve application, system, and network issues affecting the company platform and ensure maximum availability. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be passionate about open source technologies and automation, and be capable of identifying long-term production trends to keep services available worldwide. Responsibilities

Proactively collaborate with engineering and non-engineering teams to maintain availability and performance SLAs of the LinkedIn application stack and infrastructure, using homegrown and commercially available tools. Adeptly troubleshoot applications and websites to quickly resolve issues per documented procedures. Coordinate and communicate updates on issues affecting site availability/performance to customers and executive management. Develop tools to improve rapid deployment and monitoring of custom applications in a large-scale UNIX environment. Identify and automate repetitive tasks to improve issue resolution time. Work effectively with peers and other operations or engineering teams as a strong team player. Maintain strong organizational skills and multitask in an interrupt-driven, real-time environment. Working in Site Operations may require a rotational shift outside regular hours, including weekends. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline. 1+ years of experience with incident management and escalation processes. 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux systems administration and/or DevOps. Experience with network concepts, IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, and common Internet protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, FTP, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in a technical operations or similar role. Experience programming in shell scripting or an OOP language (Python, Perl, Ruby, Java/Scala, or C/C++). Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills—written and verbal. Ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions to engineering or non-engineering teams. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to deep dive into problems and drive to resolution. Experience in documentation and streamlining processes. Ability to review, recommend, and implement new processes to meet or improve site-level SLAs. The pay range for this role is $72,000 to $119,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location.
