Provide systems engineering support for FAA programs, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and industry standards. Develop and analyze system requirements, specifications, and architecture to enhance aviation safety and efficiency. Conduct risk assessments, trade studies, and performance analyses to support FAA decision-making. Support air traffic management (ATM), navigation, surveillance, and communication system enhancements. Define, acquire, and implement solutions that transform old technologies in a safety critical operational environment. Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, industry partners, and internal teams to define system needs and solutions. Assist in system integration, testing, and verification to validate compliance with FAA requirements. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including requirements traceability matrices, interface control documents, and system design specifications. Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and other analytical tools to optimize aviation system performance. Support safety and reliability assessments to ensure compliance with FAA policies and safety management systems (SMS). Provide lifecycle support for FAA systems, including concept development, deployment, sustainment, and decommissioning. Stay up to date on FAA policies, emerging aviation technologies, and industry best practices to inform engineering decisions. Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or related fields. Qualifications
3 to 20+ years of relevant experience with the FAA Familiarity with the NAS, Enterprise Architecture, and FAA's Acquisition Management System Nice to Have
Experience with FAA air traffic control programs, systems, and services (e.g., ADS-B, FTI, ERAM, TBFM) Experience with future ATM concepts Work Requirements
Work location: On-site, remote, or hybrid Work Hours: Core hours 9-4 pm ET Travel: 0 - 20% Physical requirements:
Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer.
