AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Role overview
You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure within the Americas. You will develop and lead initiatives to maintain compliance with internal and external sound and acoustic requirements during environmental due diligence, design, environmental permitting, construction, and data center operations. This role requires regular engagement with multiple AWS stakeholders (Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams) as well as external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.
A successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering multiple, high-priority projects with tight timelines requiring strong communication with partner teams, outside consultants and counsel, and regulatory agencies. The candidate must have a strong understanding of multi-media United States environmental permitting, remediation, and compliance requirements for large-scale infrastructure, ideally with expertise in sound and acoustic compliance.
Key responsibilities
Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop strategies and mitigations to support data center delivery with a focus on sound and acoustics.
Design and lead technical initiatives for continual improvement of sound and acoustic compliance for internal and external requirements.
Develop long-term strategy and vision for the environmental sound and acoustic compliance program in the Americas.
Develop, manage and track metrics and goals to evaluate program success.
Provide technical expertise on environmental due diligence for site acquisition focusing on noise assessments.
Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners with a focus on sound and acoustic requirements.
Coordinate with partner teams (Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others) to optimize site designs for sound and acoustic requirements.
Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.

The AWS Environmental team is responsible for AWS’s global environmental programs, including risk management and compliance systems, policy maintenance, audits, metrics, training, and global initiatives to support sustainability goals while complying with environmental regulations.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
7+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.
7+ years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites including acoustic assessments.
At least 5 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or environmental compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Data center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, operations, and/or risk assessment experience.
Experience in sound and acoustic assessments and requirements.
Experience managing and/or leading community/public interactions including with regulatory agencies.
Experience working with large and diverse teams, including global partners.
Up to 25% travel.

Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary with knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits may be provided.
