Senior Product Manager - User Algo Transparency and Controls Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of product strategies focused on enhancing user transparency and control over their TikTok experience.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, research, legal, comms) to translate user needs into innovative product solutions that provide meaningful control and clear understanding of content recommendations.

Drive end-to-end product lifecycle for features that explain content recommendations, provide accessible tools to adjust the user experience, and enable meaningful feedback on recommendations.

Champion user-centric design, ensuring transparency and control initiatives are integrated into the in-app experience and easily discoverable.

Monitor product performance and user feedback related to transparency and controls; analyze industry trends to identify improvements and new feature opportunities.

Act as a product owner for key features related to user transparency and controls within the TikTok app.

Support high-quality researcher access to relevant data (while respecting user privacy) to improve external understanding of TikTok's recommendation systems.

Qualifications

Minimum: 3+ years of product management with end-to-end feature ownership, including strategy, execution, and impact analysis.

Experience building and launching user-facing mobile features for a large-scale consumer product.

Understanding of algorithm-driven recommendation systems and challenges related to user transparency and control.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams; strong analytical capabilities and data-driven decision making.

Passion for user-centric products prioritizing transparency, responsibility, and empowerment in content consumption.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building features that enhance transparency and control over algorithmic recommendations.

Interest in online safety, digital wellbeing, or related areas as they relate to algorithmic content delivery.

Familiarity with regulations and best practices related to transparency and algorithmic accountability (e.g., GDPR, DSA).

Experience conducting user research on perceptions and needs related to algorithmic content and control mechanisms.

Job Information

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $149,040 - $311,600 annually, with variation based on qualifications, location, and other factors. The role may be eligible for bonuses and RSUs. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with company match, parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, and paid time off. Benefits may vary by location.
