Responsibilities
The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric services, including assessment/evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in assigned areas, to a diverse patient population as an independent practitioner. The Psychiatrist also provides consultation and support to primary care providers in integrated behavioral health sites for management of primary care patients with mental health concerns. Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; documentation complies with patients\' insurance requirements.
Maintains satisfactory peer reviews: able to assess medical information including pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, etc., to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention.
Meets clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner; prioritizes work and adheres to schedule.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of patients with mental illness, emotional disorders and/or substance abuse. Examines patients to determine presence of physical disease using physical findings, laboratory results and medical history. Maintains productivity expectations based on contract, program or clinic assignment.
Works effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Communicates with providers, physicians, case managers, scheduling staff, referring providers, outside agencies and authorities in a timely and appropriate manner. Coordinates and links psychiatric treatment plan with FHCSD therapy, case management, primary care (medical home), and community support systems as appropriate. In integrated behavioral health sites, provides consultation and support to primary care providers in the management of primary care patients with mental health concerns.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
Board Certification in Psychiatry preferred.
Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or ACLS/ATLS/Advance Resuscitation Training.
DEA license
Graduate from an accredited school of medicine; completion of a 3 year residency in General Psychiatry OR current status as a 3rd year resident in a General Psychiatry program.
Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California.
Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. Driver requirements: active Class C California driver\'s license, proof of liability insurance, no more than 2 points in past 12 months, no suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations, no DUI/reckless or felony driving within 5 years, no license revocation in 7 years.
Experience/Specialized Skills (including Language)
1 year experience working in Psychiatry preferred; experience with underserved, low-income persons, or homeless persons preferred.
Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary community health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.
Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.
Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
Basic computer literacy to comply with department needs (electronic medical record documentation, reports, follow-ups).
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
Clinical skills appropriate to scope of practice and clinical judgment to implement the treatment plan.
Demonstrated medical/psychiatric knowledge and clinical skills in assessing medical and psychiatric information, differential diagnosis, and psychopharmacology needs.
Good written and verbal communication skills, including communicating with patients and families who speak English as a second language.
Demonstrated commitment to community medicine.

Walking, bending, reaching, lifting as needed in an office/clinic setting
Exposure to blood borne pathogens and biohazards; exposure to aerosol-transmitted diseases; exposure to cleaning chemicals

Compensation In the spirit of pay transparency, base salary is provided as a range:
$134.61 - $161.77
per hour. Final base salary will be determined based on geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. The organization emphasizes pay equity and internal equity. The range is the expected pay for the role, and reaching the maximum of the range is not typical to allow for future salary growth. A generous compensation and benefits package is offered.
