Overview
Performs duties related to receiving, handling and processing specimens for Laboratory testing. Receives, sorts and accession specimens, assigning to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow. Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens. Completes quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked and safe work area, and monitoring pending work, as well as escalating priority work. Operates and/or uses basic pre-analytic lab equipment. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Responsibilities
Receive, sort, and accession specimens for laboratory testing. Assign specimens to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows. Perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens. Maintain documentation of work, keep the work area clean, stocked, and safe, and monitor pending work; escalate priority tasks as needed. Operate and use basic pre-analytic laboratory equipment. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering patient care. Qualifications
Education : HS Diploma (High School Diploma or GED). Typical Experience : 1 year of recent relevant experience. Skills and Knowledge : Advanced knowledge and practices of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to ordering, laboratory testing, and handling/processing biological specimens submitted for analysis. Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform duties and tasks. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet expected timeframes. Workflow management to respond to volume fluctuations, unexpected situations, problems such as equipment or information systems failure, shift hand-offs, STAT orders, and specimen integrity issues. Ability to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures in sequence. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety of patients. Ability to work in a collaborative setting with clear, current, and relevant information sharing. Ability to recognize and escalate complex and unusual deviations, problems, unusual occurrences, and unexpected outcomes. Job Details

Pay Range is $34.54 to $43.17 / hour. The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account factors including experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is one piece of the total rewards program. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
