Carta is reimagining what a next-generation People function can be. As the VP of Human Resources, you’ll lead our HRBPs and Employee Relations team while piloting new, experience-led and product-driven ways of working. This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundation for a transformative People strategy at scale. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you’ll lead Carta’s ~15-person HR organization and partner with the VP of Talent and VP of Total Rewards to shape our People strategy end to end. Looking ahead, we’re evolving the People Team to a product-centered approach—treating programs like Onboarding, Careers & Mobility, Performance, Rewards, and Workforce Experience as “people products” with clear ownership, users, and measurable outcomes. As VP of HR, you will be central to influencing this model. The Problems You'll Solve

As the VP of Human Resources, you’ll lead Carta’s HRBPs and Employee Relations team through this transformation—balancing operational excellence with innovation. Specifically, you will: Build and lead the HR/ER team

– empower a high-performing team of ~15 professionals who are trusted advisors and cultural stewards. Be a strategic partner

– collaborate with Carta’s Executive Team, business leaders, and People peers to deliver scalable, global solutions. Lead cultural and people integration for M&A

– drive alignment of people, processes, and values during acquisitions to ensure seamless integration and minimize disruption. Drive performance processes

– lead critical programs such as performance management and promotions, ensuring accountability and fairness while enabling scale. Elevate the employee journey

– redesign lifecycle touchpoints to create a seamless and empowering employee experience. Guide HR & ER products

– own HRBP and Employee Relations “people products,” applying product-inspired practices to improve design and delivery. Drive compliance and risk management

– oversee Employee Relations, reduce legal risks, and ensure global compliance. Enable organizational design & planning

– contribute to workforce planning, succession, leveling, and mobility. Champion change & adaptability

– coach leaders through transformation, embrace new technology and AI, and embed Carta’s values in daily decisions. Roll up your sleeves

– balance strategic work with hands-on execution and continuous improvement of HR operations. About You

15+ years of HR leadership experience

(HRBP or equivalent) IPO/private-to-public experience preferred

– experience scaling through major inflection points, ideally private-to-public Industry background

– technology, fintech, or financial services preferred Global perspective

– success leading HR across multiple geographies Builder & scaler

– proven ability to design and scale HR programs, processes, and operating models Strategic operator

– balance tactical needs with long-term transformation Data-driven

– ability to generate insights and influence strategy through storytelling with data Trusted coach & advisor

– experience advising executive teams Cultural architect

– thrive in high-growth, evolving environments Carta’s compensation includes a market-competitive salary, equity for full-time roles, and comprehensive benefits. The minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) is estimated at $322,500 – $430,000 in San Francisco. Final offers may vary based on geography, experience, and other factors.
